Dad » A son’s first hero, a daughter’s first love.

My final session of 2020 was December 13th, with Sean & his adorable little minions at Balboa Park in San Diego, CA. I couldn’t have asked for a better family to spend my evening with. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much. I’m so grateful to be able to create, provide, and capture such special memories for others to cherish for lifetimes to come. We had such a good evening together; making jokes, climbing trees, playing with sticks, and dancing in the setting sun. A father’s heart is truly a masterpiece of nature. Never miss an opportunity to freeze each special moment in time.

Letting kids be & capturing their true authentic selves is what I strive for. If they are feeling shy give them grace & some patience. They may just warm-up slowly, but they’ll warm up eventually. If they are feeling frustrated, let them have a few minutes off to the side. Love them in that moment so that they can come back & feel heard. Hopefully then feel a little better. If they want to play with sticks or palm leaves, let them. Those photos always turn out so cute & they will probably make you smile each time you look back at them. If they have a lot of energy, we’ll let them play & maybe run a little off. Going with the flow, making sure your kids feel safe, loved, & like they have a sense of involvement, it usually makes a world of a difference. Your job is to love your family & enjoy the present moment. My job is to make our time together (whether 30 mins or an hour) least stressful, effortless, & fun.
